KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL PENDETA GEREJA HKBP ANCOL PODOMORO DALAM MENDORONG PERILAKU ASERTIF SELAMA KONSELING PRANIKAH

Abstrak

The study aims to describe interpersonal communication between pastors and prospective married couples who are undergoing premarital counseling to encourage assertive behavior. Indications that the communication is effective can be seen from two things, namely the recipient of the message agrees with the intention of the sender of the message and acts voluntarily without coercion, so that barriers to communication are overcome and the quality of interpersonal relationships increases. A person who demonstrates assertive behavior has the ability to respect themselves while still paying attention to the rights and feelings of others. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method that explores the experiences of pastors and premarital counseling participants. The result is in the premarital counseling process, effective communication occurs which is characterized by openness and equality between the two parties. The dominance that arises from this relationship is not intended to control the other party, but as an effort by the pastor to trigger premarital counseling participants to freely express their opinions and feelings. So this becomes an important asset that pastors have by implementing assertive behavior which is the main foundation in the premarital counseling process which is based on positive feelings, empathy and support.
