Abstract

The high incidence of injuries and near misses at Building X in the past year indicates low compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This study aims to analyse the relationship between knowledge and supervision on PPE usage behaviour among technicians. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design with 37 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations, and analysed using the chi-square test. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.000) and supervision (p = 0.000) with PPE usage behaviour. Respondents with low knowledge tended to engage in risky behaviour (95%), while poor supervision was also associated with risky behavior (93.8%). In conclusion, knowledge and supervision play a crucial role in shaping safe work behaviour. It is recommended that companies enhance PPE SOP socialisation, conduct regular training, strengthen daily monitoring systems, and enforce sanctions for violations to reduce the risk of workplace accidents
